The key is maintaining correct air-fuel ratios, boost pressure within safe limits and exhaust gas temperatures that don't stress the turbo. This depends on the DSG variant. The DQ250 wet-clutch DSG in the GTI is generally robust and can handle Stage 1 torque increases without issue. The DQ200 dry-clutch unit in smaller models is more sensitive and can benefit from a transmission tune that adjusts clutch engagement pressure to suit the higher torque.
