Yes - Seat's EA888 TSI and EA288 TDI engines are identical to those in Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda, and have a strong, well-documented global tuning track record. Stage 1 calibration stays within safe operating limits, and the hardware headroom is proven across thousands of tuned vehicles on these platforms. We validate on NZ 98 RON for petrol models and log boost, knock and fuel trim data before finalising every tune.
It's a strong case - a tuned Leon Cupra on Stage 1 matches or exceeds standard Golf R power for considerably less money. The EA888 platform in both cars is identical, so the tuning headroom is the same. If you already own a Cupra Leon, a Stage 1 tune is one of the best-value performance upgrades available. The driveline is proven, the results are consistent, and you end up with Golf R performance at Leon Cupra cost.
A standard Seat Leon 2.0 TSI (around 140kW) gains 35–50kW on Stage 1, taking it to around 175–190kW - a significant improvement in everyday driving. A Cupra Leon (190kW) gains 35–55kW on Stage 1, pushing it past 225–245kW. The improvement is most noticeable in mid-range torque through 2,500–4,500RPM, where the car feels noticeably more eager and less in need of downshifts.
Yes - particularly on the performance-oriented Leon and Ateca models. The DSG7 DQ381 handles Stage 1 torque well, but its factory shift timing is calibrated for everyday driving rather than performance use. A DSG tune sharpens shift times, improves clutch engagement pressure and adjusts shift points to work with the improved engine output. Combined with an engine remap, it makes the car feel significantly more cohesive and purposeful.
