Yes - the TCe 1.3T in particular responds well, with gains of 15–25kW and 40–60Nm on Stage 1. For a small, light car like the Clio or Captur, this is a meaningful improvement in real-world driving. Throttle response sharpens noticeably, and the car feels more willing at lower RPM where these engines can feel flat in standard form. It's a cost-effective upgrade for a car you use every day.
A Megane RS 280 or 300 on Stage 1 typically gains 30–50kW, moving a standard 280 to around 310–320kW equivalent power. The gains are most noticeable through the mid-range - the car pulls more strongly from 3,000RPM and feels significantly more urgent at the top of each gear. On a mountain road or track day, the difference is very clear. Stage 2 with an aftermarket intake and exhaust can push beyond 320kW.
The EDC dual-clutch gearbox in Renault turbocharged models handles Stage 1 torque levels well in most cases. Where a transmission tune adds real value is on the Megane RS EDC, where sharpening the gearbox shift timing to match the engine's new responsiveness makes the car feel much more cohesive. The EDC is already a quick-shifting unit - a transmission tune makes it feel more immediate and purposeful rather than simply fast.
