Yes - both the PureTech turbocharged petrol and BlueHDi diesel engines are well-engineered platforms with safe factory headroom. The PureTech range uses EP6-derived architecture that has a solid global tuning track record, particularly in the 1.6T form. BlueHDi diesel tuning is straightforward within safe boost and fuelling limits. We validate all Peugeot tunes on NZ fuel grades and log the result before delivery.
Often yes - the extra torque means the engine operates at lower throttle positions to maintain speed, reducing fuel demand at cruise. Owners of the 3008 and 5008 BlueHDi regularly report 6–10% improvement in fuel consumption on motorway routes after tuning. City economy is less affected, but the smoother throttle response makes stop-start driving less fatiguing. The diesel efficiency gains are one of the strongest arguments for tuning a Peugeot.
A 308 GTi 1.6T THP on Stage 1 gains 25–40kW, taking it from around 200kW to 225–240kW. A 3008 or 5008 with the 2.0 BlueHDi diesel gains 30–50kW and 80–100Nm on Stage 1, which significantly improves overtaking and motorway confidence. The diesel torque gains are particularly noticeable when the car is loaded with passengers or luggage - it pulls away with much less throttle effort.
Yes - Peugeot's EAT8 8-speed automatic handles the increased torque from a Stage 1 tune well. The gearbox itself can also be calibrated to sharpen shift timing and improve responsiveness, complementing the engine remap. Out of the box after an engine tune, the EAT8 adapts reasonably well, but a transmission tune delivers a noticeably more cohesive result. We'll advise on whether a combined engine and transmission tune makes sense for your specific use case.
