Yes - the 4N15 2.4L diesel is a well-built engine with good internals and clear factory headroom. Stage 1 tuning stays within safe boost and EGT limits, and we log exhaust gas temperatures under towing load to confirm the turbocharger isn't being stressed. The 4N15 is one of the more reliable ute diesel engines we work with, and it responds consistently and predictably to calibration.
Yes - the Evo X is an outstanding tuning platform with strong Mivec internals and an excellent base engine management system. Stage 1 on a standard Evo X typically delivers 40–60kW, taking it from around 217kW to 260–275kW. With proper supporting modifications - intake, exhaust, intercooler - Stage 2 and beyond can push well past 300kW while remaining daily driveable. The Evo has one of the most developed tuning ecosystems of any car we work with.
A Triton 4N15 on Stage 1 gains 80–110Nm of torque, which transforms its towing behaviour on grades. The 1,800–2,800RPM range improves most - exactly where you're working when pulling a trailer uphill. Owners commonly report pulling more confidently in a higher gear, which reduces transmission heat and wear on long towing runs. For a working ute, this is one of the most cost-effective upgrades available.
The Triton's part-time 4WD system and automatic transmission are generally robust enough to handle Stage 1 torque increases without issue. If you're doing significant towing on a regular basis, we recommend a transmission fluid service before and after tuning, and monitoring fluid temperature if you have that capability. For higher-output Stage 2 tunes, a transmission cooler is worth considering. We'll advise on your specific configuration when you book.
